A farmer-oriented scheme to fit geomembrane in farm ponds in water-scarce areas at government expense. The scheme aims to enable farmers to store rainwater in farm ponds during the monsoon for crop protection and supplementary irrigation, thereby increasing crop production and preventing groundwater erosion. Farmers must construct the farm ponds at their own expense and apply online to benefit from the government-funded geomembrane fitting. The maximum size for the agricultural pond is 40 meters x 40 meters with a maximum depth of 6 meters, and the government will cover the cost of geomembrane fitting up to 2460 sq. meters. Any excess costs due to larger pond sizes will be borne by the farmers. The contractor appointed by the Irrigation Department will fit the geomembrane after beneficiaries are finalized.
